View BookCoral Castle is the first book to take an objective, journalistic look at one of America’s most intriguing places, Coral Castle, located in Homestead, Florida. Edward Leedskalnin, an eccentric Latvian immigrant, built Coral Castle in the 1920s and ’30s. Working alone with primitive tools, he quarried, carved, and set in place more than 1,100 tons of coral rock, creating what is commonly known as the American Stonehenge. How he accomplished this amazing feat remains a mystery. Some believe he was simply a talented stonemason and engineer. Many others believe he had somehow harnessed anti-gravity powers. Several books have been written on Ed’s otherworldly powers and he has become a cult figure to those who believe in extra-terrestrials and the magnetic grid theory. In Coral Castle, Rusty McClure and Jack Heffron survey the theories and tell the story through journalistic investigation and interviews with experts on all sides of the argument.
View BookSet in the vibrant Industrial Age and filigreed with family drama and epic ambition, Crosley chronicles one of the great untold tales of the twentieth century. Born in the late 1800s into a humble world of dirt roads and telegraphs, Powel and Lewis Crosley were opposites in many ways but shared drive, talent, and an unerring knack for knowing what Americans wanted. Their pioneering inventions from the first mass-produced economy car to the push-button radio and breakthroughs in broadcasting and advertising made them both wealthy and famous, as did their ownership of the Cincinnati Reds. But as their fortunes grew, so did Powel’s massive ego, which demanded he own eight mansions and seven yachts at the height of the Great Depression. Rich with detailed reminiscences from surviving family members, Crosley is both a powerful saga of a heady time in American history and an intimate tale of two brilliant brothers navigating triumph and tragedy.

View BookThis is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read. As I was reading it, I would often find myself abruptly speaking out loud that I want to work with people like the Crosley brothers. The writing makes the characters in the book and their stories come to life.
Crosley is the most important inventor and industrialist you probably haven't heard of. The extent of his ideas, inventions and industry is breathtaking. Sure, Crosley built those quirky little cars. So did Henry Ford. Crosley also made major contributions to radios, airplanes, and refrigeration. Those baby walkers with wheels? Crosley did 'em first.
Rusty McClure’s book about, Ed Leedskalnin, and his creation, Coral Castle is an easy, but worthwhile read. McClure’s research relies heavily upon first hand accounts of the life Leedskalnin and the construction of his “Rock Gate Park”, aka “Ed’s Place”. It covers pretty much everything that can be documented about Ed's life from his adolescence in Latvia, his immigration to the "New World" and his efforts during the 1920s thru early 1940s at Coral Castle, and on until Ed's death in 1951.
Ed Leedskalnin's Coral Castle is a great mystery that raises many mysterious questions. People wonder how this slight, sickly man, who always worked alone, was able to dig up, sculpt, and precisely maneuver and position the coral objects, some of which weigh many tons.
I am an avid reader of all different types of books. When this book was recommended to me, I originally read it soley because of the people who asked me to read it. What a pleasant surprise! From the moment I started the book until I was done, I was hooked. The plot starts off strong and never stops. The characters are well written and easily relatable. Not only did I feel like it very well could have been a true story (everything is well documented) but I felt like I could have been the lead female in the book...
What can I say, I loved this book. Cincinnatus is a fast paced thriller with intrigue, murder, suspense and even a bit of romance. The authors do a fantastic job weaving together the plot and bringing the characters to life.
